Greetings....I am trying to help a friend through the quagmire of our legal system. When he told me his story I freaked because 1) I had never heard of police doing anything like it 2) sounds so friggin 'WRONG"!

Here's the deal: apparently he was with a friend in a Casino Parking Lot when they where approached by Police (I am not sure whey they approached... I think the officers where just being a pain....) at any rate the owner of the car (not my friend) allowed for a vehicle search at which point a glass pipe was found in the (locked) glove box. It was not my friends and the owner of the car claimed to know nothing about it . This is where things go south.

Since the officer could not determine the owner of the paraphernalia, they where both taken in. At this point my friend was given a involuntary FORCED blood draw. (this just makes all kinds of bells go off in my head). From this draw they determined he had meth in his system (yes, he did.. but it was from several days prior) and is now being charged with "possession of meth-amphetamine internally"

Is a forced blood draw a common thing? And this "Internal possession"....just sounds like crap to me. He has a public defender that has not even returned his calls and his case is on the court's calender in 10 days. How likely is a conviction in a case like this ... and what king of sentence could he be facing?

I am going to try to find him a criminal attorney doing pro-bono work, but not sure there is time. Any comments or input would be greatly appreciated. :eek:What is the name of your state?
