What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? West Virginia

What is the likelihood that an individual can be charged with conspiracy to manufacture illegal drugs (meth), if they (knowingly or otherwise) purchase base products (Pseudoephedrine) that is MAY HAVE BEEN used to manufacture drugs?

This purchase happened many years ago, ... at least 4 years ago. The Pseudoephedrine was signed for at the drugstore, so a signature is on file, linking the buyer to the purchase. However, the individual (family member) who actually was charged with a crime of manufacturing meth was not charged until 2008, and is now threatening to implicate this other party regarding their previous bad judgement, unless they bail them out of jail...... ::confused:

What advice would you give?

If the police are begin knocking at your door ~ don't say a word to them, get an attorney.

Add to that, Don’t believe them.
No matter how nice they say things like, “only want the truth, trust us, we can go easy or hard, we can talk to DA etc.

Do you know that they can lie, promise anything and still arrest you?
and forget their false promises.

As the others have said, you have the right to remain silent You could be charged as a conspirator or as a principal in the manufacture.

Will you? If those were the only actions you took and they were really that long ago and seperate from the current arrest, I don't think so, but they could. Also, it could link you up for things in the past for any comments made by the guy today.

Think about it. Guy says you help him now. You say no. DA presents old stuff about you buying things which would help and wonders in front of the jury about if you have continued doing so.

Another thing to consider:

If this guy is calling from jail, threatening to throw someone else under the bus if they don't bail him out, then this conversation is on tape.

Bailing this person out may be all it takes for this tape to be used against them and everyone gets arrested anyway.

Not much honor among meth heads is there?
