confused about bail

My step-daughter got arrested along with her boyfriend because he was dealing pot out of their apartment (the lease is in her name). Basically she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and has never been arrested for anything before. Her bail is $100,000 of which someone has to come up with 10% or $10,000 to get her out. Once you hand over the money to the police dept to get her out, do you lose that money or do you get it back once the matter is resolved? Also, if we use a bail bondsman and put up our house as collateral to get the $10,000, do we have to pay the money back out of our own pockets, or do we get the money back after she shows up for her court appearances and the matter is resolved?

Her bail is $100,000 of which someone has to come up with 10% or $10,000 to get her out. Once you hand over the money to the police dept to get her out, do you lose that money or do you get it back once the matter is resolved?

The bond is to assure that she makes EVERY appearance in court. If she does, then the bond will be refunded.
However, if she fails to appear, her bond can be revoked and the FULL $100,000 is ordered to be paid.

As above, you will get your money back... less whatever the bondsman fee is (usually 25 to 30%).

25%, boy you've got some vicious guys there. We only typically see 10%.
