How long do the police have to charge you something?

my daughter was in an auto accident back in the begining of Jan, the cop said she was being charged with pocession since there was pot in the car plus they did a blood test. He said we would recieve something in the mail. It is Feb 20th and we having heard anything yet. If the police are going to charge you with something do they have a certain amout of time that they have to do it in?

They've got a couple of years to charge you. I can tell you that it's not uncommon for certain PA jurisdictions to take several months to file charges on things like this.
