My son was arrested this past week for possession of marijuana and I was curious if it's legal that the drug dog sniffed out the car THEN the police went looking for him. My son was no where near his vehicle. He was in a bar having a drink, the police located him, he was arrested, taken back to his car and had to hand over his car keys. Is this legal?? Some say it's isn't, that the dog was misproperly used. Just how much freedom do these dogs have? Can a patrolman walking down the street have a dog sniffing out every car without the person knowing?
