I was convicted of a federal drug charge in 2004. How and when can I get my firearms rights reinstated? Do I need a presidential pardon to obtain this?

What did the judge say when you received your sentence?

Usually, as a felon, you will never regain your right to possess a firearm.

While a presidential pardon is possible, unless you happen to have given an extremely large amount of money to the president's campaign fund and/or you have a case that emotionally charges his voter base, you don't have much of a shot there.
