Friend tried to sell 10 Valium to a police officer

What is the name of your state: California

Last night my friend Jake asked me to drive him and his girlfriend Sarah to his friend's house across town. He texted the guy and was going to sell him 10 pills of Valium. Well turns out the close friend has his phone seized at a traffic stop the night before. We got on the 91 freeway and it was backed up beyond belief (it was almost the reason I turned back). 3 cops cars in total rolled up behind my car after we parked on the street close to the persons house. They immediately got all four of us out of the car and searched us. One of the officers yelled to my friend "where are the 10 Valium?" and used his name (Jake). He denied having the drug on him at first, which was dumb on his part because they knew his name and obviously intercepted the text message. Everyone in the car was 17 except the girlfriend of the guy doing the deal. (She was younger). Out of all the police at the scene only one was questioning the 4 of us. I believe I was the first to be question by the officer. I was very polite and he warned me that he could name me an accessory to a felony drug charge if I lied to him. I didn't actually lie about anything to him at all. (I did choose my words carefully) The officer talking to me said I was bull****ting him though and then he made me sit down on the curb. They went through everyones phone except mine because it was with my friend so he could call me and my other friend in the car after we dropped Jake and Sarah off. They went through Jakes phone. He told me he texted his whole contact list earlier that day (mass text). The officer found dozens of messages between him and contacts in his phone regarding the pills. So i'm sure Jake is screwed more than anyone. The police did find a pipe in my car that I said was in there as well as a container. But I had no weed on me. I didn't even really know the pills were in my car either, thats why I was so confused when had 3 cops turn the red and blue's on and box me in. But as soon as I got out of the car I quickly connected the dots. One of the police officers I was talking to (he was much nicer) told me and Ryan (my other friend that was in the car) that we could possibly get charged with something. He said its up to the DA and that he has no idea what will happen for sure. He did however say to my other friend (who tried to do the deal) that hes most likely looking at a drug charge of some sort out of this. None of us were taken to jail. But everyone was picked up by a parent except for the girlfriend who was picked up by her 17 year old sister.

So what do you guys think will happen?
I need help with this cause I have never been in trouble with the law ever in the past.

You could be charged with transportation for sales, conspiracy to commit sales, even selling a controlled substance.

I would recommend you speak with an attorney if charged. These are all potential felonies and can get you in a world of trouble.

Sorry, but without knowing the prosecutor, the officers, r the court, I could not venture a realistic guess. A local defense attorney can probably give you a better idea of the likelihood of you being charged and prosecuted. Perhaps you can seek a consultation with an attorney just in case.
