My cousin was found with 10 pecocets in her possession. It was given to her by a friend for her mother who has been in and out of the ER for the past 2 mos. B/C her mother suffers so severly, she was afraid she may become to dependent on the meds. Therefore she kept the pills in her purse and controlled her mother's use. The PD told her that it is a difficult case to win & that she could get up to 3 yrs in prison. He said her best bet is to plea guilty. She has no priors, just graduated with a 3.9 GPA and plans to attend GSU in the Spring. Is the PD accurate in what he has told her? If not, what can she do when she cannot afford an attorney on her own?

She will be charged with the possession of a schedule II controlled substance without a perscription and YES this is serious. If she cannot afford an attorney she will be offered one in court and she should take the judge up on that offer of such.
