What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Washington
A friend's husband has a medical marijuana prescription. He often leaves it in her car, which is registered in HER name, not his. We're both concerned that if she is ever stopped and the vehicle searched she's going to be the one having to explain why there's dope in HER car. Telling him this isn't a good idea hasn't worked so we'd like to get an opinion, other than our own, to encourage him not to do this.

i'm assuming he's leaving the medical marijuana in the car, not the prescription. ;)

when she sees it in her car, flush it down the toilet. or walk it back in the house.

i would do the first, but i have an attitude problem. :p

why does he have it in a car anyway instead of his house? even though he has a prescription for it, doesn't mean he can drive under the influence and leaving it there is like having an open container in the car even if it was his car with his prescription.

The reality is that only he CAN possess the marijuana legally, and even still because of federal law that is really a grey area.

He should ONLY ever keep WITH HIS PRESCRIPTION, his marijuana ON HIS PERSON under his DIRECT CONTROL or in LOCKED CONTAINER at home when he prefers to no have it on him.

Marijuana is not legal yet.

He should act more responsibly to protect the great privilege that it is to be able to possess and use cannabis legally.

He should be concerned with the risk he is taking with his mate by leaving his highly regulated and controversial medicine in the car.

Possession requires dominion and control. She does not have a "prescription" (really a doctor's recommendation and not a prescription), therefore if she has dominion and control over the substance she is in possession and in violation of the law. She could be arrested and the car impounded.

She needs to set her husband straight or understand that he is a selfish SOB that would rather have his "medicine" available for his convenience than to care for her well-being. If she refuses to do anything, well, good luck to her ... and hopefully they have the money for attorneys.
