What is the name of your state? PA
My 17 yr old son was arrested with three friends in the back of a suburban shpping center. My son had a pipe and less than a gram of pot. The officer said my son is likely to be eligible for ARD. Should we hire a lawyer? What is the likely penelty? Thank you for any help. What is the name of your state?

Yes you need a lawyer. ARD isn't something that happens automatically. Your lawyer will need to request it from the prosecutor. ARD is a good thing. Your son will end up with no criminal record once he finishes the probation.

College applications

Thank you. We are looking for an attorney but in the meantime would you know what these means in terms of college applications next year? The application asks if the applicant was ever convicted including various dispositions like ARD.
