Police took my marijuana but haven't charged me

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MT

The police came to my apt while investigating an accident I had gotten into the night before, when I answered the door they smelled the marijuana I had in my apt and came in and took it. They took about 60 grams, my bong, my pipe, my grinder, and my scale. Obviously I'm a marijuana user. I expected to be charged and do some jail time or something, but they didn't cite me or write me a ticket, they said someone would be in touch on that following Tuesday, but its been three weeks now and I haven't heard anything at all...whats going on??? Any ideas?? Is there a time limit or window that they have to charge me, if so how long? Or can they just come arrest me anytime now?

They have at least a year to file charges.

they may be sending everything to the lab to test. It takes awhile to get that report back.
