Friend's uncle found half a tablet of ritalin in an apartment, while the tenant of the room where he found it was away. Could he hand that in to the police and could that lead to charges? Secondly, since it's half a tablet, does that make a difference?

Sure it could lead to charges. Anything's possible. If the friend had no prescription for the medication, ANY amount could be illegal possession.

But I would wonder what the uncle's justification is for going through his tenant's room and belongings without the tenant's knowledge or permission? That would be considered trespassing for all intents and purposes.

The uncle would stand to get in more trouble than anyone. There is no proof where the pill came from. The tenant would just have to keep their mouth shut and never admit to anything.

You need to supply more info.,such as, does the uncle live in the apartment? Permission to go into the room? Stuff like that.

Sure, your uncle could definitely be charged...
