    Question Questions

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado

I was arrested for possession of extacy. I've never been arrested before and never been to jail, no tickets in ages, etc. I'm told that I will probably be charge with Felony 1 for possession of extacy, although charges have yet to be filed.

First, is there a way to request the charges be reduced to a misdemeanor? What can I expect as far as a sentence is concerned? I live out of state, can I request that any diversion or probation I serve be transferred to my state? The judge worked with me and gave me permission to leave the state. I'm applying for a public defender, but if I"m declined the services, should I spend the money to secure a lawyers services?

Any help or advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all of your answers! MUCH appreciated.

I'm not sure what statute number yet because the DA has not yet filed charges. What reasons would the DA have for not yet filing charges? Is it typical that it would take almost 2 weeks to be charged?
