What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? tennessee

How can someone be charged with simple possession when the drug is prescribe drug and they have the bottle with their name on it. They were pulled over by the police, speeding, and he had the prescription with him which they charged him with simple possession

It could be several reasons. You will have to work this out in court. Outdated bottle, different address etc... are just a couple reasons. Who knows the exact law for transporting prescription drugs in your state. Maybe you rubbed the cop the wrong way and something he normally would not bother with he decided to charge you. No choice but to wait for discovery. Retain counsel. goodluck.
