small amount of maryjane in PA

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania
recently, my friend got charged with 2 counts of a small amount with 2 co-defendents. He was the driver and the one who made the transaction
and stopped for a traffic violation which he was not cited for. the preliminary
hearing is in a few days and he cannot afford a lawyer. What to do???

When he is asked by the judge if he can afford a lawyer tell him "no". That pretty much seems like his only option.goodluck.

That's stupid. The public defenders in my area are not only public defenders. They are private attorneys that contract to the county for PD work while also doing paid cases. One of them is the best attorney in the area. I'd hire him if I needed an attorney.
