In the State of Kansas, how does one go about obtaining court transcripts? What is the name of your state? Kansas. Is a person who has been convicted of a drug offense, entitled to a copy of his or her court transcripts? This person has no income, and no means of acquiring money to pay for transcripts, but was told that he must pay for copy , and state reasons why he wants them? Is this right? What is the proper procedure? Last edited by debrs01; 02-23-2005 at 06:44 PM. |

| It sounds like you want a copy of the criminal report....Correct me if I am wrong. That would be called in most States Discovery...And usually a lawyer is the one who asks for this. I do not know, I guess if you are defending youself you could do the same thing. I do believe that you will find it harder to do then you might think wihtout legal councel. However, I do not know all the facts involved but "if you can not afford one one will be appointed" Thus Miranda. If you have indeed been through the complete court process I would wonder why you would want this unless an appeal or something is on your mind. Still I would talk to the Attorney who reresented this person or consult with another Attorney. What level Was this conviction?? Is their an appeal?? Not Advice for what It's Worth. Patrolman/J.
