Oklahoma, Can anyone tell me what the motion to suppress evdience in a criminal case means.

i'm no lawyer

i think it means they don't want the evidence to be introduced at the trial usually because it was obtained illegally or it has no direct bearing on the case-but i could be wrong so you may want to check out www.state.ok.us/osfdocs/srvhp.html-good luck

If evidence has been obtained by the police illegally, such as by an illegal search, the defendant's attorney will move to suppress the evidence. If the motion is successful, the evidence cannot be used in court against the defendant.
