My boyfriend didn't finish his alcohol classes. He tried to transfer them and they never received the paperwork. He let it slide and got a notice from the courts saying he had a court date that he didnt show up for because he couldn't miss work. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he let it linger for 2 years. He finally turned himself in, paid his bail and set up his court date. Most likely what is the judge going to give him due to ignoring this for 2 years? Will he get jail time? It was for a DWAI.

What state is he in? What statute was he convicted of?

In general, this will mean that he can go back and serve out the balance of his sentence in jail. He was given a break and he blew it. There might also be additional time for being a fugitive, but that depends on the specifics and the state.
