ARD in PA - when is PennDot notified

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA

I got a DUI in March (0.08) and am currently in the ARD program. I understand that Penndot will record this as a DUI anyway and not expunge it (though it will not be "visible" after 10yrs). My question is *when* will Penndot record this. Is it 1) when the arrest happened (march), 2) at the preliminary hearing (april), 3) when I entered the ARD program (june) or 4) when I complete the ARD program (december)? I am looking at getting a new vehicle and am pretty sure the insurance company will pull my PennDot records when that happens to add the new vechicle. Is it already recorded or do they wait until the ARD is completed?

I'm not sure which of those dates penndot uses, but I'm fairly confident insurance companies only look back 3 years. I was arrested in 2002, admitted into ARD and completed the program in 2003, purchased a new car in 2006 and my rate was not adversely affected. Though, I purchased the car 3 years after all four dates you listed.

A few things

Penn Dott can not record this as a DUI convition becasue it is not. It will Read ARD DUI and give a BAC level major Violation noted. It will never say convition and that way bigger than what they do record.

The date that will be recorded is The Preiminary hearing.vBUt penn dott will not get this info until after your ARD hearing.

you may be surprised depending on your claims history and who the carrier is that the insuance compnay may never look.

also keep in mind when you get your DL back from suspenion... you will get 5 points on your DL record for the suspension... 3 points will come off in 1 year from when your DL is restored if you have no violations. if you ne4ver got a suspension you get no points.

Ok, thanks for the replies. Since I'm past the ARD hearing date, it looks like I'll be taking a gamble with getting a new vehicle. If State Farm decides to check jackpot for them.

Usually ARD will not result in you getting dropped. I had my first DUI and ARD about 10 years ago. I've had a few accidents since that DUI. Not alcohol-related. Today I pay 104 a month and somehow landed on their safe-driver reward program. I'm sure that's a mistake, but I rec'd a 2nd DUI in May 2008, so I am hesitant to go with any other insurance carrier. Rumor has it that Allstate bases rates/prems on salary, education, & other variables outside of driving record. I dont know how many insurance companies do it this way, but I know all our different as my sister works for progressive and it's exactly the opposite.

How often does Progressive check that sort of thing? I got my DUI before I picked up Progressive (on parent's insurance), switched to Progressive when I changed states and wasn't adversely affected.
