Auto Insurance chargesWhat is the name of your state? Arizona Was charged with DUI, court dropped charge to Reckless. The Dept. of Transportation makes a notation on driving record of DUI charge. Now my local Auto Ins. Company is charging me for both the reckless and DUI offences. I understand that Arizona is one of the few states left that allows “double jeopardy” punishment to take place, but is my Ins. Company required to follow this course? Or is it merely the decision of the underwriter? |

BigMistakeFlDon't know the answer to your question, but insurance companies are funny. If it were me, I think I'd shop my auto insurance around and find another carrier. Don't cancel the one you have until you find a better replacement. Tell them about the DUI "Charge", and that the DMV and courts proved out that you were not impaired, did not drive drunk (only you know in your heart if that is true or not), and that you drove recklessly. That may make getting coverage hard, not a good thing in and of itself. No good reason to be loyal to an insurance company. See if you can find better. |

| Contact an Insurance company that specializes in DUI SR22 insurance. Even though you're not required to carry SR22, you may get much better rates from one of these companys. Don't mention the DUI charge. Let them find it out for themselves, if they do at all. You dont' have to have a conviction in order for it to be placed on your records. |
