being chased for no reason.

What is the name of your state? Kansas

Last week my car broke down. My husband and myself pulled it over to a friends house to get fixed. Also I need to let you guys know where I live at. I live in a very small community (pop. 25), the nearest so called town is about 25 miles away. Spread out in the area I live in there are alot of little communities (unincorprated townships or villages as they are called). Most of these communities are spread out about 10 miles apart. Basically we were out in the middle of no-where. To try and make a long story short. Finally our friend called us up last Friday and said my car was ready. He also asked if we could pick him up a 6 pack on the way over. When we got there it was around 6:00, the car was not ready. All 3 of us drank the 6 pack (that was the only beer that was there) and chit chatted for awhile. Finally at about 11:30 the car was ready. My Husband left 1st and I followed in my car. On the way home my husband got a little ways ahead of me and the police pulled me over. At the time I had no paper work in my car (License, insurance card, registration). I immediatly informed the officer that my husband ane myself had just picked my car up and that I had taken everything out of it and had neglected to gather up the stuff before I picked the car up, at the present time I was following my husband taking the car home. I did however find an old insurance paper and I gave him my drivers licinse #. The officer said OK I will be back in a minute. Instead of him going to his car he went across the street where other officers had gathered. At this time I call my husband on my cell and tell him I was stopped and for him to bail me out of jail in the morning. I figured I would go to jail because since I had a couple of beers I thought they would smell it and haul me in. Since I had only had 2 beers in a 5-6 hour time period I knew or at least was pretty positive I would pass a breathalyzer, but where I live at they take you in and ask ?'s later, also in my county there is no such thing as O.R. if you are taken in you have to bail out, even if innocent. The officer finally came back over and asked me "what did you have done to the car, where do you live, where is your husband now and what is your husband driving". I answered his questions and he left again. The next thing I know 2 police cars head out going 90 to nothing towards where my husband was at. The officer that stopped me walked back up to my car and said will your car make it home. I said "Yes", he also stated the reason he had pulled me over. Before he pulled me over he started tailgating me with his bright lights on (I am sure you know what I am talking about) with him doing this I of course could not see, so I stuck my arm out the window and waved him around me. He asked me why I did this and that he thought it was strange so he pulled me over. I of course informed him that his lights were blinding me and I thought it would be safer if he was in front of me instead of me driving with bright light glaring off my mirrors. The next thing I know he get in his car and drives off 90 to nothing. On the way home 2 other police cars pass me. After I get home my husbands call and of course was suprised when I answered. I guess he seen the cops coming and turned off onto a oilwell lease road and watched them. They had him completely surrounded. My husband informed me that it was pretty wild watching them. Finally my husband got mad and called dispatch asking what they wanted. Dispatch hesitated and stuttered then said "Nothing". So my husband drove on home.

Now for the long awaited question. Why would the police let me go when not only did I have alcohol on my breath, I also had no registration, license or insurance card on my possession. Just to go after my husband who I might add does not have any warrants and had only been in trouble with the law one time about 3 years ago (he had gotten into a fight and got arrested for assault and battery) also they did not even see my husband driving. Is it legal for the police to do this. Go after someone for no reason. Alot of people I asked said maybe they were after someone else. That is not the case a 5 year old could see who they were after.

Thanks

Bini
