Ca

What is the name of your state? California

On January 8, I was charged with an Administrative Per Se at the age of 18. I went to detox center and the officer told me that she would not include any criminal charges because I tested a .04 and that only my liscense would be suspended for a year(as stated on the reciept given to me). She did not give me any court dates and has not tried to contact me since the time of the offense. Do I have to worry about anything else besides the 1 year suspension now? Or is the one year suspension my only punishment? And since she told me that I would not be charged with any criminal offenses, does that mean that this will NOT show up on a background check but only through a DMV liscense check?

Thanks

If you were not charged for DUI, and were only charged with the administrative penalty for having a BAC of .01 or greater (zero tolerance for underage drinkers), then it is NOT a criminal conviction and should not show up. However, it would be reflected on your DMV printout so it would be discovered that way.

Do you think that this would have any affect on my chances for employment in the later future? How high would my insurance rates go up? And would there be any way to clear this off my record before the 7 years?

I do not think you can clear it off early, it might effect insurance rates (but you'll be 26, I believe, before you drop out of the high risk group anyway), and I doubt it will have any effect on future employment unless you lie about it and it is discovered.

However, keep in mind that employers in CA can generally only ask about convictions (there are exceptions to this for government and certain regulated positions) and not arrests or even citations. And if you were dealt with per CVC 23136, then this is NOT a criminal violation and it only an administrative matter handled via DMV.
