CA Resident DUI in Idaho

I am a California resident, and was 6.5 years ago when I got a DUI in Idaho. I took care of it, but Idaho just got around to telling California about it, so they have suspended my license and said I have to attend a 12 week course to get my license back. I can get a provisional one, but I'm wondering if there is anything I can do about it. It seems kind of strange that California can punish me for something that happened outside the state.What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
