California DUI, Underage, BAC .20

What is the name of your state? California

Got a first offense DUI in Orange County, CA. Under legal drinking age (20). Blood test results of .20. Failure to stop at a stop sign. No proof of insurance (driving a friend's car).

Anyone in the Orange County area, or California, have any knowledge of what to expect in terms of punishment?

Any advice, or insight, would be greatly appreciated.

Your license will be suspended for six months and you will be required to take an alcohol education class. After you complete the class I believe you can apply to DMV for a restrictrd license so you can drive to work and/or alcohol class. You will first need proof of insurance as well

You will be paying several thousand dollars in fines, be placed on probation and most likely receive some community service as well.

Your insurance rates will go up of course.

So all in all, it is a rather expensive ordeal. Something like 5K on up I believe.

You don't want to get a second one in the next ten years or you'll be in the big leagues as far as fines and jumping through hoops is concerned.

If you were to drink, drive and have an accident resulting in someone's death after going through the alcohol education classes, you can be charged with a homicide.

Don't drink and drive if you like your freedom.

It's always been a year's suspension for under 21 DUI.
