Careless Driving vs. DWI

What is the name of your state? MN

I was charged with DWI (.13, first offense) and plead down to careless driving. I'm just curious how anybody looks at the two or I guess what the benefit to me was by doing so? I am sure insurance is gonna suck ass either way, but I am just curious.
