Community Service

PA

Is there a legal guideline that defines community service? An actual physical document with a definition? Or is this some abstract legal term that can be construed in any way shape or form?

Thanks

"Community Service participants are individuals that have been ordered by a District Justice, or Judge at the Common Pleas Court level to perform a specific number of hours of work service that benefits the community. It is the responsibility of the Probation Officers who work in the Community Service Program to find appropriate work sites for the referred individuals and monitor cooperation and progress."

It sounds like you contact your county's probation office and they will provide you with appropriate community service.

In PA, community service differs greatly from county to county. Some counties have set times and activities that you must participate in under county supervision. Others allow you to find your own community service work, and your hours will be approved by the organization you do the work for.
