Confused!!!

What is the name of your state? NC

OK I was arrested for Aid and Abet a DUI. The person driving was of age and blew a .09 . Our state limit is .08 . So I can not afford an attorney cause I do not work and go to school full time. I have my first court appearance in the morning. I am quite scared because I have never been to court before, never had a speeding ticket and never been in any kind of trouble before. I am 25. The night of the arrest I was very intoxicated to the point I couldn't even walk. I assumed the people I met at the bar would get me home as they told me through the night. Somehow my friend took my keys from me and since my vehicle is an SUV and fits more people, they opted to take my vehicle to my friends house. I was passed out when we got pulled and had no idea we were in my vehicle. I was arrested and now I have been told I face the same penalties as if I were driving and got the DUI myself. Any help on what I need to do when I get to court in the morning and what kind of trouble I might run into. I am clueless as to what I am to do when I get there!!! Please help, and thanks in advance.

Ask for a continuance until you can speak with an attorney.

Ok. So when I get inside the courtroom do I sit and wait to be called on or do I go speak with someone before the jusde person comes in or what. Like I said before I have never been in a courtroom in my life. Only seen them through the TV and such. Thanks.

You sit and wait until your case is called.

Well court went well. I got a lawyer and he took care of everything. I have to go back on Aug. 18th and he said as long as I showed up and the "principle" which I gather is the driver shows up or her lawyer shows up then I am "free and clear". Thanks for the heads up on what to do in the courtroom. I felt like a fool in there with all those criminals. I never want to go back after this issue is resolved!

I'm glad things went well for you. But just remember, you are not one of "those criminals". Be careful what you say and how you judge. You never know who's looking at you thinking the same thing
