Considering moving from state of conviction

What is the name of your state? California

I'm going to be convicted of DUI in CA and it was my second (had one 7 years prior). What if I go plead guilty, get my sentence pay my fine and just move out of state (AZ) without completing the required courses. I already picked up a valid DL in AZ the same weekend I was pulled over to replace the CA license they took. Do the two states talk concerning misdomenor warrants?

Do you really want to be back here asking about extradition? Do you want to be back here and asking how to fix this because now you want to get a real job instead of flipping burgers?

Suck it up , do the time.

This is the third dumbest idea you have ever had, the first two were DUI's. You will get caught, eventually, you will go to jail, and as Ohreallynow stated, you will not be not be able to get a decent job with any company who runs background checks.
PS If you do decide to do this, PLEASE choose another state to move to.

someone with more knowledge about that will be along. I do know that if you are convicted in AZ you complete your sentence, classes, interlock, etc. in AZ. not eligible to do in another state. (At least the one case that I am familiar with that is how it worked)

Help with this question anyone?

Oh, just reread you question, you were convicted in CA, CA laws apply.

It is definitely not true what has been stated about background checks and felony records. if you are honest on that job application you can still get hired with a felony record. It is up to the employer. For the individual who has that felony record though, you can't run nor can you hide from it. You had better be able to talk to prospective employers about it as many will ask about it when they see it on yourjob application. My son has a felony record and still managed to get hired.

Exclamation

Good for your son.

Can you tell THIS GUY The good news.

You seem like a very nice person NC wife, but we need to get this guy straight.

Yo Billy, don't be a hero. Ask these questions of the judge, or if you get a PO. There may be a chance if the classes and requirements are similar that you could do it there. The thing is you would have to ( most likely) come back to California to show the completion.

Others more familiar might chirp in.

It's true that you can move and complete your penalties in another place. For me, this was done through my PO. They can be cooperative and helpful, or rigid and difficult. It appears to be up to how you relate to them, and first impressions are everything in the probation office.

You have no idea what you are talking about, as usual. I recruit personnel for a LIVING.
Yes, there are a few companies that will hire felons, but they are FEW AND FAR BETWEEN.
And by the way, he wasn't even being told anything about having a felony conviction, we were talking about the fact that he would have an active WARRANT FOR HIS ARREST

Advice, spend your time advising your drunk felon son, and give these other people a chance to deal with their situations in an adult manner, without a mommy.

I think it depends on the state, my ex got his DUI in AZ and tried to complete his penalties in Nevada, he had actually lived in Nevada for over 3 years at the time he decided to clean up his pitiful mess. NO WAY said the court, he had to return to AZ, go through the court proceedings, pay his fines, do his time, attend his classes and drive around for 6 months blowing into an interlock system.

Having an acrive arrest warrant can prevent access to federal and state loan programs (can we say 'home loans' anyone?) including student loans. It can also prevent access to government subsidies and welfare programs.

So, unless our O.P. wants to live life as a fugitive and outside the law, he should just take care of business.

Stop being a wuss, and deal with your crime like a real man would!! Only a sissy would run and hide like a coward.

Dear Fair,

I'll do what I want when I want. It's people like you that like to keep the truth from individuals and keep them down and out. If I had listened to people like you, my son would still be waiting for his court date. My intention is to help those people that have made mistakes and need to find their way back to some sort of normal life either after a DUI or worse prison.
