court costs?? even if you dont go to court

i was arrested for AI (alcohol intoxication) when i was a passenger in a car in which the driver was pulled over for a dui. I was over an hour from home and since nobody could come and get me within "20 minutes" the officer arrested me. It was my first offense ever. I was released the next morning and told i would be paying $25-40 for the ai fine and $88 for the time (10 hours) i spent in jail.

since i live out of state, i was told i could go to court or pay in advance. I paid the $178 which i though was the jail costs + fine but yesterday i received a bill in the mail from the jail requesting payment for my 10 hours in jail. do i have to pay court costs even if i dont go to court??

$155 seems very high to me for court costs.. any help is much appreciated thanks

Only charging court costs to defendants who decide to exercise their right to a fair trial goes against the constitutional rights of the accused, so you will be charged court costs even if you don't go to court.
