denied police report

What is the name of your state?CA
I got a DUI and was told I was denied autorization to obtain the police report. There was no accident or other individuals involved. Why was I denied?

My response:

You were denied because it's part of the criminal investigation and prosecution against you. You'll be able to obtain it, once you're prosecuted, in the Discovery phase.

Because the California Government Code allows them to deny it to you for the reasons cited by IAAL.

If you're going to get a lawyer to handle your case, he can get these records in short order. If you're going to a DMV type hearing (not the court side of the case), you should be able to get copies there. You may have to pay for the copying charges.
