Driving while suspended

What is the name of your state? Florida

My girlfriend recently lost her license in a DUI offence. She continued to drive and was pulled over on a routine traffis stop. she is now facing charges of Driving on a suspended license.

Is it likely she will go to prison? Is there any way she can avoid a harsh penalty ie. take education courses, etc?

Any help would be great

Thanks

education courses for what? how to listen to the judges orders? I think the bests way to look at this is this. They suspend your DL.. but in reality there is nothing to actually stop you from getting in a car and driving as long as your are free... the only real way to enforce it if you get caught is with a stiff jail sentance. if they started to say oh just do some community service... or whatever .. people would get wind of this and every one with a suspended DL would be driving. They hang the jail over your head as the only real way to scare you with the potential of jail.

All i can say is by driving on a suspended DL..

she showed a total disreguard for the judical system and the punishment handed down.

I don't know how your state does things but in Mine PA.. they treat this worse than the actual DUI itself.

in PA 60-90 days in Jail

"If you are found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while your license is under suspension, you will be convicted of a second degree misdemeanor penalty under Florida criminal law. A 2nd degree misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of 60 days in jail and a $500 fine."

It's possible to mount a defense, but you'll need a lawyer and there are no guarentees.
