Question

DUI/DRUG In MD

What is the name of your state? Maryland.

I was arrested for A dui and CDS in Maryland. I went to cort and payed all my finds. It was my first charge, so the juge agreed to probation and placing one of the charges on a sted docet. That same day went down stairs to talk w/ my new probation officer. Being that I am actually a South Carolina resident he told me After some initial conver sation between me and him; which he would initiate that my Probation would then be transfered to SC. I never once herd from him. Not ONCE. So I let it go. A year later I got a letter from Maryland sheriffs dept. saying they where gonna issue a bench warrent for violation of Probation. That was almost two years ago. What should I do. I'm sure I still have a warrent signed for me. If I go back to maryland and tell this to the judge what will she likely do. Hell I've gotten away with it for two years, wouldn't turning my self in now for no reason other than I want to deal with it have some positive baring? Or would she laugh at me and throw me in jail. If So I think I'll take my chances on the street.

P.S.~I take it Statute of limitations has no barring on this or does it?

I would apreciate no replys from people just saying...You a loser Turn you self in. Give decent advice, please. Preferably from a Lawyer, and better yet a Md. Lawyer

did you ever receive any documentation from your PO that your probation was being transferred to South Carolina?

If no, contact the Maryland probation officer and find out what happened.

You are correct in assuming the statute of limitations has no bearing on your warrant.

I'm not going to call you a loser, but you should still "turn yourself in" so-to-speak. Follow stephenk's advice, and contact the PO in Maryland. Explain the situation, and tell them you wish to rectify the problem. They will most likely work with you to resolve it.
