DUI and DWS in NJ

What is the name of your state? NJ

Any help out of this nightmare would be appreciated!!!

I was pulled over about 8 months ago for DUI in NJ. A big mistake but I was really depressed over a recent divorce and was drink more then I should. In any event, since I was divorced and had alimony, child support etc. I kept driving for work (I am a salesman and as such driving is required). I was pulled over a couple of months after the DUI and received another year suspension on top of the original 6 months. I am now in a situation at 38 years of age where I am likely to soon be out of a job but still have the responsibilities to my ex and my son. Is there anyway that I could move to another state and at least get a license to drive during working hours or am I done?

You made your bed. Get a bike, take the city bus and get your life in order. Moving will take you away from your children, and depending on the state, your DUI will follow you.

In fact, you are so astonishingly correct in this matter, it will not surprise us one bit if you are offered a generous settlement, because, by golly, that’s just how it should be.

Easy to say

That would be great if I wasnt responsible for $2400.00 a month in alimony and child support....

I want to take care of my ex and son and see no way of doing it without a license

Who's fault is that? Take a bus. You got behind the wheel drunk, you also continued to drive and got another ticket.

You can certainly see if your state offers a hardship license (to/from work ONLY).
However, if you move to another state, your license suspension will follow you. When you go to apply for that license in the 'new' state, the new state will contact the old state for a history and status check. And once that old record comes back, your application for the new license will either be denied, or your new license suspended when they find out after issuance. Welcome to the age of electronic communication and information.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

In new Jersey, I was told that once ur license is revoked by court order, you cant get it back, even for the purpose of going to work. New Jersey seems to be very firm with this, so I'd say your not getting it back.

Did u get this DUI when they lowered the limit from.1 to .08? Cause i thought that the law was once they lowered it a 1st time offense was only 3 month loss of license.

But your not getting it back, you should have tried to fight to get it back when u got the DUI, not now. The court is just going to laugh at you when you ask them for your license back to get to and from work when its obvious you broke the rules before.

You won't be able to get a license, no matter what state you live in. I tried. Register your car in another persons name (relative, friend) and drive on their plate, and try not to get pulled over. Or, try another line of work.

I'm really po'd about that scam. It really struck a nerve with me. I was struck by a drunk driver last month, and my neck and head still hurt. This dude was so drunk he was actually laughing when he got out his car!!!

I don't have a drop of sympathy for this poster because he knew what he did was wrong and he did it more than once. And now he wants help.....please
