Question

DUI expunge for Nursing Student?

What is the name of your state? When I was 19 years old I was charged and plead guilty to DUI in the state of Arizona, Since it was my first offence, the prosecutor offered me a plea bargain. I had a low blood alcohol level and was pulled over because my tags were expired. I completed all the requirements of the plea bargain and since have tried to forget about it; put it behind me. I have not have any other problems with the police, before the DUI or since.
I am now 23. I am a college student and working very hard towards my degree in Nursing. Until I filled-out the application for the program, it never really occurred to me that the DUI that I received on my record could compromise my future career.
I decided that I would go down to the local courthouse and ask for information on how to expunge this from my record. I didn’t know much about it—it’s a term that you hear on TV. The desk clerk explained to me that I need to make a motion to the court, but also included that having your record expunged really does nothing. She said that its just something that they add to your record and that she really doesn’t understand why people bother doing it,“ you have criminal record and always will have a criminal record.”
Is this true? Is there really nothing that I can do in my state?

Thanks for you help

Of course, what she told you is not true.... and probably why she is just a clerk.

However, that part is true. AZ does not allow for expungement of a conviction except for DNA records and records of juvenile offenders. In the case of DNA records, the person’s DNA profile resulting from their conviction may be expunged from the Arizona DNA identification. § 13-610. In the case of a juvenile offender, the record of the conviction may be expunged. § 13-921.
The effect of an expungement is that the record is erased and legally deemed not to have occurred.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Expungement

If AZ state law keeps a conviction on your record for life. There's nothing you can really do. Unoftunately, you picked the wrong state to get a DUI in.
