DUI Statute of LimitationsWhat is the name of your state? washington my daughter was on campus at college on her motor scooter after having had some drinks. This was 15 years ago when she was 19. She was convicted of DUI, went to classes, paid huge fines, lost her license, etc. etc. - all well deserved for bad judgment. Now she's 34 and is planning a trip to Canada. The immigration papers say that they cannot be admitted if they have been convicted of a DUI. Is there is a statute of limitations on how long that DUI will stay on her record - and it is a misdemeanor, right? Thanks for the help - concerned mom. |

That is pretty draconianAre you serious? When I went to Canada I just presented my passport to the officer and that's all. How would they know if she had a prior DUI? Is this just a visit?, or is she moving there for a long period of time? I would be very surprised if Canada would turn away someone's money just because she made a (serious) mistake 19 years ago. I say just show them the passport and keep quiet about the DUI; the most they can do is kick you out if they find out about it. |

Poster, have your daughter go to the local police station and request a records check on herself. The cost is minimal and then she'll be sure to know one way or the other. |

| My response: I got rid of "billy456" last night. He won't be seeing ANY of this ANYMORE. In other words, he's on OUR "ignore" list. IAAL |
