Dui Twice Less Than Three Months

What is the name of your state?
MICHIGAN

Hello everybody,

Let me introduce myself before I go ahead with the case. I am a graduate student at the University of Michigan majoring in engineering. I am on scholorship with my University paying for the tuition and stipend to do research.

Over the last 3 months I believe I just let go of my life and ended up writing this post here rather than a technical forum.

Anyway, I was arrested/charged for the first time on sep 27th and plead guilty for OWI and had my license suspended until dec 17th when I drove on dec 14th after having a few drinks to a gas station nearby. I hit a parked car on a single lane (one lane in each direction) as it was parked parallel on the road side. No one was present in both the cars except me. What follows is now a second time experience for me. I did everything requested by the cops and also agreed for a blood test (awaiting the results). Road side breath test revealed 0.14.

I am working with my family to hire a real good lawyer to check for any possibility to avoid jail time. I am an international student and been here for 2 yrs, ofcourse had limited idea of laws here, which doesnt help my stupidity.

I am not offering excuses here, as now I am only grateful, no one was injured. I would like to know considering my situation with a good lawyer, what possibility is there to avoid jail time. Would also appreciate referal to a reall really good lawyer.

Thanks
Appreciate your answers

work release privileges

Hello Slim,

Thanks for the reply. Could you explain work release privileges? Even with a pretty good lawyer am I right to assume that I wouldnt be able to avoid jail time?

I have a few appointments with the following. I know this may not be professional for to comment on this, but please if it is fine.

Some of the advocates:

Frank B. Ford
John Talpos
Paul Tafelski
William Maze

Appreciate your replies
Thanks
