DUI's and driving on suspended license

What is the name of your state? FL

My friend had 3 DUI's in Annapolis ****land in the 1980's with the last being in 1984. He moved to Florida and got a DUI in 2000. His license was revoked. For some reason he could not get a hardship license. He is a carpenter who has to drive in order to work. He was just arrested last week for driving on a suspended license(no DUI). He was told he will never ever be able to drive in Florida again period. My question is this, Can he move to another state and get a license? He doesn't know what else to do. The DUI's from 20 years ago are going to haunt him forever. Is he completly screwed?

Ummmm**************.

Well the court(s) will go by the years between the last one and this one (and not being 7 (most states it's 10) years this will be his 2nd. (if it where later than '84)
But...
since his last was more than 10 years it will not show up as 2nd offense-
BUT... be aware:
The Judge(courts) have access to ANY/ALL "lifetime" arrests- regardless of year(s)- (or time passed ) since last offense- in other words: they Know you have had this "problem" ( drinking & driving patern ) before, so you cannot hide that fact.
You need a good defense DWI/DUI lawyer- that would be your best bet- 1st consults are normally FREE of charge- Look into that.
(the Over 20+ years "looking back" thing I Know Will haunt you forever-It Never fades- I speak from experience... It Is Never erased... and in my mind- never forgotten.)
We learn as we live, once for me is enough!
Good Luck -

PS.
Moving will not make it go away- only makes it worst for him
DMV records are shared in most states (I Mean MOST) so they will "know"!
Def. -> Not the Way Out!

OOPS I missed the "2000" one? Not looking good!
Still- consult with a good lawyer.

So, There is no way for him to ever drive again for the rest of his life? All because he was caught driving on a suspended license? People make mistakes. He doesnt even drink any more. All he is trying to do is get to work and take care of his kid.

They would not give him hardship license

because it was his 4th DUI. H'es lucky he had a license after the third one.
Of course DUI laws were not as tough back then as they are now.
