DWAI records expunging (sealing)

What is the name of your state? New York

Hi All,
In 1999 I was arrested and charged with DWI, though plead guilty to DWAI (Driving while ability impared = i.e. lesser violation = trafic infridgement). If anybody had the same situation or has a knowledge on the subject, please advice:
1) Is it possible to have arrest/court records sealed/expunged and where should I start?
2) Is it on my criminal record or just driving record?
3) When potential employer conducts a background check, would that information be available to them?
4) While filling out a job application should I indicate that I was convicted in DWAI?
5) I was told that the DMV record would dissapear after 7 years. Does that mean there would be no more records I should be "afraid" of?
6) Do I need a lawyer to have the record sealed or I can do it myself?

Appreciate your help.

Some advice:
1) Call the court house and ask.
2) Call the court house and ask.
3) Depends on how deep of a background check they do.
4) Depends how honest you want to be and how honest they expect you to be. Note: it won't look good if you put nothing, but they do find something.
5) Call the court house and ask.
6) Call the court house and ask.
