DWI Laws

What is the name of your state? Texas and Washington States. My question: I have a Washington Drivers license but am residing in Texas temporarily. I got a DWI in Texas which I am fighting because I was not drunk. It was late at night and I was lost and crying when I got pulled over. The trooper said I swerved but the video tape does not indicate that. I feel I was targeted with my Washington plates. This is my first offense and I plan to move back to Washington within the next month. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the fees my attorney wants so I have no recourse but to plead guilty to this. This is unfair for people who are innocent but cannot afford attorneys. Will I lose my license? I just don't know what to do.

Will the State of Texas let me have a continuance until I can pay my attorney.

I checked into this but apparently I make too much money (according to them anyway). Hmmm...it seems you need to be either rich or poor to receive legal council. Any other ideas? I'll try anything. Thanks.

other than "swerving" what evidence does the state have against you for the DWI charge? blood test, urine test, breath test?

No other evidence. I refused the breathalizer and blood test. I've been told to always refuse. Don't ever move to Texas and if you do, do not drive around with out of state plates. I've been followed by more police who have radioed in my plates.
