First DUI in PA

What is the name of your state?

Pennsylvania

I recently got a DUI and blew a .09. I am pleading guilty and am assuming I will attend ARD classes and do community service(thats what others I've talked with had to do). I talked to a lawyer and he advised me to do this because a .09 carries no license suppension. My question is, do I need a lawyer to plead guilty or can a public defender do this just as easily. The lawyer will be charging $2500 which I can't see paying if a public defender can do the same thing. Do you need a lawyer to plead guilty or just if you're going to fight it?

A public defender can do this too, however, in some areas you must prove need for free public defender. That means financial affadavits, and if you have the means to hire a lawyer, one will not be provided.
