Question

Is Georgia FTML better than driving on the wrong side of the road?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia

Thanks if anyone can help. Are certain 'other moving violations' better or worse than others when it comes to your driving record?

my boyfriend has been charged with 'driving on the wrong side of the road.' what he was really doing was coming over the center lane a bit on a completely crazy road (which i have lived on all my life) in a curve. Which should be, if anything, failure to maintain lane, we think. Or crossing the center line, which i'm not sure is a charge in GA.

He has a CDL. He hasn't used it in a while, but wants to keep that option open in the future.

They have already agreed to drop the bogus aggressive driving ticket. The cop was such a jerk, and the aggressive driving charge was a real concern. it will be the second time he's had to miss work. He wants it all thrown out because the cop harassed him, or to at least plead to some lesser charge.

not sure what that charge would be though. sorry this is so rambly!

Was he drunk at the time?

If he crossed the line he could be guilty of either one. I guess if I had to pick one, failure to stay in lane is better than driving on the wrong side of an undivided road (presuming those are the charges).

A crazy road is not a defense, it's exactly why these statutes exist. Drive slower so you don't drift into oncoming traffic.

Harassment is not a reason to dismiss or reduce a charge you are guilty of.

no, he wasn't drunk. I just posted here since there isn't a 'traffic citation' forum.

thanks. That's what we thought, about the FTML. Just a plain ole 2 lane. . . But the more i think of it, if you accidentally went the wrong way on a one way, that could be not as bad as - oh, this guy can't stay in a lane. . .

is there any option to punish an officer, other than making a complaint to his boss?
