If this is your first offense, you will be given the opportunity to take part in the ARD program. You will have to attend some classes, possibly a victim impact board, a psychological evaluation to see if you have an alcohol problem or if this was an aberration.
You will have to pay a fine, court costs and costs of probation. You will be on probation until you complete the ARD course. Your license will be suspended for 90 days-1 year.
If you complete all of the court's mandates, the charge will be expunged (removed) from your record as soon as you do so.
*****However******if you are arrested for DUI within the next SEVEN years, it will come back on your record and the subsequent DUI will become a second offense for sentencing purposes. You will not be eligible for ARD.
If you are referring to subsequent DUI offenses, I believe that they will always be on your criminal and driving record.
