Help With Court Procedure: Dui

WY

I have to travel to WY for a "rearraignment" for DUI charges. It's my first offense, and my court-appointed atty. told me that he is trying to work a deal for me. I have not been able to get a return call from him lately, so I hope someone here can answer my question.

First of all, I was told that a rearraignment is usually done when a deal is being worked out. Is this true?

Second, if I am given a fine and I don't have the means to pay on tyhe spot, what happens? Will I be allowed at least a few weeks to pay it? Will they haul me to jail for a week(s) if I can't pay it immediately? I am really concerned about this because I'll lose my job!

Third, my lawyer has been able to stand in place of me for the arraignment and on another ocassion where lawyers meet with the judge to discuss cases...I forgot the term for it. Does the defendant usually have to be at the rearraignment???

like I said, I cannot get him to return my calls for the past 2 weeks, so I can't get any info. The assistant at the PD Office told me that defendants usually have to be there. I live 1000 miles away from WY

I have no record at all, yet.

Thanks so much for your advice!
