How to contact/engage Public Defender for my case?

What is the name of your state? CA

i got my court hearing for DUI on 01/30/07. Can anyone tell me what should i do if i need to get a Public Defender?

I have heard from someone that there is way to avoid 1 month hard suspension for first time offender. Does anyone know what is the process?

A prompt reply will be really appreciated.

You'll meet the PD on your first court appearance.

Just tell the clerk at check-in that you want to be represented by the PD.

You have to fill out a financial app, and if you qualify, a PD will handle your case.
Most jurisdictions will require approx. $90 reimbursemt for PD use (if trial, about $1000).
