Just want to pay my fines

What is the name of your state? Kansas I now live in texas I had 1 DUI in Kansas in 93, I completed my classes I went back to jail to do the 48 hours all I need to do is pay my fines, but they tell me I have to go back and turn my self in and bond out and go through the process . All I want is to get my Drivers Liscense. I cant go to work without a car. I cant disrupt my husbands job to take me back nor do we have the money to do so. What can I do.

You're in a failure to comply status, and there's likely an outstanding warrant for your arrest. However, it's very likely you can get on the court docket quickly. You might talk to them and see if you can arrange a Monday or Tuesday court appearance if you turn yourself in on Saturday. That'll give you 2 or 3 days jail under your belt, and you may get through it without any additional jail time.

Also, if Kansas drops your DUI from your record after 10 years, clearing this up will start that process.

You could talk to an attorney in Kansas and see what he/she might be able to work out.

I know, but there aren't any other answers. As you know, I have 2 DUI's. Been there.

unfortunately there is no way around a warrant. (which I am assuming you have since they have informed you to turn yourself in). I suggest you contact a bondsman first and ask if you are able to bond out in Texas rather than Kansas. Or call whomever you spoke with before and maybe you can fill out a petition to the court (judge) explaining your situation and your reasons for not paying the fines, and your intentions to pay the fine. A petition allows you to converse with the judge without appearing in court.

I haven't necessarily the out of state experience that she is going through now, but I was in a situation that did not allow me to start my jail time when necessary which resulted in a wonderful warrant for my arrest, all I wanted to do before I was to serve "my time" was to be sure that was all the time I had to do, so I filed a petition with the court because and stated my position, my intention and my concern. When you file a petition, that may or may not create a date that you can speak with the judge formally through a court appearance. Normally, with the warrant squashed, another words...gone, then it goes from there.

I think you may have a good chance by contacting the court your case is out of, maybe speak with the court clerk, explain to them your situation...they then may forward you to the courtroom secretary or DA to possibly give you some other options. You can even contact the collections investigator usually located in the court building and ask to set up a payment plan, then you can contact the DA tell them you have got a payment plan arranged, you have every intention to pay this and get it taken care of. They may just squash the warrant for you-that's if you have completed everything else that you were asked to do probation wise. Not a guarantee so please do not take these words and put them in stone...every state is different and the courts within. I am speaking with experience from Colorado

You should still contact a bondsman also...be prepared for it...I am not saying that any of these things I have just said will get you out of a warrant.
