legal helpMy son is on probation for a felony DUI and in a treatment center for rehab and physical therapy. This facility is operated by the state and he was sentenced there. He confided in his physical therapist that last week he relapsed on a weekend outing and got drunk and high. He purchased urine for the test and passed. Now he is worried that the therapist will tell the authorities and he will go to prison for 6 years. Is the therapist bound by law to report this or how far does patient confidentiality reach? Tell The Kid To Shut The Hell UpYea, they might. there was a case a few years ago, some old DUI guy, told his doctor he drank 6 to 12 beers a day, the doctor told the DMV, and they tried to yank his DL. Deny everthing, HIPPA might protect him, not sure, they are not bound by law to say anything, but they can and then your kid has to dance. He is in a state owned facility, they can hang his dumb ass. Deny, deny, deny! The truth never sets you free, it just gives them more to hang you. Talk to a lawer in the know. With 6 years in prison, looking your kid the the face, why would he give them anything they can use to put him in? Obviously treatment is not working, but neither is that kids common sense. They let him out, and he does that crap, then tells them, he did that crap. Who buys urine? I mean, come on here, the kid has got some real problems. You do not get urine at the local 7 -11 here, we are not talking about a slurpee here. Mom, go in there, and give that kid a hard slap. If he goes to prison, he paved the way himself! |
