License suspended

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Va

My license got suspended for 6 months and I go back in two weeks to get it restricted. Will they put me on probation when I do that? If they do put me on probation will they give me my license back earlier for good behavior? Is there any other possible to get my license back earlier? This is for underage possession of alcohol ticket.

Nothing is going to shorten the suspension of your license. You can, however, shorten the restricted license validity and lengthen your probation if you drive anywhere other than as permitted by the restrictions of your "hardship" license.

Your probation would not be handed down by the DMV, rather from the court. You need to direct that question to your attorney or the court. You should have been instructed to whom, where and when you report for probation. In my state, I simply got a ride (yeah, it's like that) to the probation office in my county, told them who I was. They pulled up my case on the computer and it all started with me writing them a check. Then I was given an appointment to meet with my assigned probation officer, and she took it from there. Don't dawdle on this, you need to get a jump on the probation and penalties.

If his suspension was handed down as a result of a court action, then all the terms of it: suspension, terms of the restricted license, etc.. are also at the control of the court. The DMV can't modify those (they have additional requirements to reinstate, but those are over and above).

The issue is what sort of probation are we talking about? If you went up before a judge he may have given you six months probation, lets say, for a criminal driving offense like reckless driving or DUI. Then what BigMistake says is true.

The other case is if you're license is suspended due to point accumulation in Virginia. In that case you enter the driver improvement program. Whether you get a restricted license or not doesn't affect the long term outcome of that. Essentially the probation is a window after your suspension is up (the full suspension not just the amount before your restricted license) in which if you better not get another moving violation, otherwise your license will be suspended again (and in many cases the option for a restricted license is not available).
