lost files?


michigan, just need a little advise, ill try to break down the story as much as possible, i was at a stop light when a drunk driver hit me at a high rate of speed ( rear ended me) he never even slowed down just did a u turn and left ,i thankfully was only brused & cut knees and whiplash i was lucky! the guy went home where he was arrested, the weird thing is i could never track his hearing no record, my car was totaled the police told me i would be notified about his hearing, however no ne ever contacted me i called everyware, and was treated like a criminal myself for even asking about it, now i get a victims rights package from the procecuting attorney for me to fill out explain damages ect... well today is nov-6-2003 the accident happoned july 2002 what on earth happoned again i call and get the run around finally i get a call from the sheriffs dept teling me the court had lost the paper work, now come on for over 1 year they lost a drunk driving case what is my recourse if any, im mad,
