Louisiana resident, Texas DWI arrest. No suspension reciprocity between states?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

I am currently going to court for a DWI arrest made back in August. Something interesting I found though.

I am still a resident of Louisiana and travel quite a bit back and forth from Dallas for work. When my DL was suspended after refusing a breath test my lawyer informed me that Texas and Louisiana do not report suspensions to each other.

Yes it was risky but I did get pulled over a few times in Texas for dumb stuff (light out, bad lane change, etc...) and once in Arkansas for doing 15mph over (cop checked driving record, let me off the hook for no recent tickets) over the suspension course and not once did a cop pull up that my DL was suspended.

My DL is now reinstated but I am going to Trial soon. I may be planning on moving to NE texas in a couple months, in that case I will get a workers permit Texas DL.

However, I was wondering if anybody knows what the deal is with a DWI on my record and if that will show up any differently than the normal suspension I received for 6 months earlier this year.

In other words, should I even worry about getting a restricted DL? Suspensions dont seem to get passed on from Louisiana to Texas. ThanksWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

The administrative suspension frequently doesn't affect your out of state license, but be assured one handed down as a result of a CONVICTION will be.

^^ 100% true.

A year ago I was worried that VA would suspend my VA license for getting a DUI in PA and it never happened because there was never a conviction. All I got was a letter from VA stating that they had been notified of my administrative suspension and that I would be suspended on xxxx date if I did not provide proof that I was reinstated in PA.
