A friend of mine was stopped for DUI and opted for a blood test instead of the breath test.
The lab findings came back "not detected" for everything except Alprazolam (Xanax), which he has a prescription for. The findings for that were "Greater than 0.03 micrograms per milliliter (ug/ml). The above analyses were performed by GC/MS."
What level of micrograms per milliliter is or would be considered enough to charge him with DUI? Does it help that he has a prescription for the substance found?
I understand that a BAC of .08 is the "magic number" for DUI, but have no clue as to micrograms per milliliter with respect to alprazolam (Xanax).
